Network Engineer

MAIN FUNCTION:

 

The Network Engineer is responsible for providing a single point of contact and first level support for reporting & resolving problems for both Business Applications and the Network Services and maintenance of secure data and voice networks (local and wide area networks). Assist with applications, software upgrades, planning and implementation of annual projects, provides primary support for all server operations. Maintains all infrastructure documentation, maintenance records, and schedules. Provides day-to-day user and infrastructure support to maintain high availability of IT systems for continued business operations in on-premises and cloud environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Maintain a secure computing environment.
    • Ensure system security is current and recommend and implement enhancements.
    • Conduct regular system tests and conduct continuous monitoring of network security.
    • Ensure all personnel have access to the IT system limited by need and role.
    • Maintains disaster recovery procedures and conducts breach of security drills.
    • Promptly respond to all security incidents, provide resolution, and provide thorough post-event analysis and escalate to appropriate senior personnel.
    • Maintain network security to guard against unauthorized access to programs and data using firewalls, security appliances, monitoring tools, and endpoint protection software.
    • Reports hardware and service-related problems to the appropriate vendor/service provider and oversees progress or resolution, including printer, copiers servicing and workstation hardware replacements.
    • Monitors backups, antivirus, and system updates.
    • Resolves issues directly; escalates issues to senior technical personnel as necessary.

 

  1. Maintain data network.
    • Monitor the network to diagnose problems and gather performance indicators for fine tuning & optimization.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routing issues within the network and escalate to appropriate personnel.
    • Maintain and provide support for VPN remote access.
    • Maintain routine backups, network and system resiliency, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  2. Maintain applications, and software upgrades.
    • Monitor, control, and enforce licensing agreements.
    • Research and test new products and services for implementation.

 

  1. Assist with Planning and implement annual projects.
  • Communicate any functional changes related to the network environment to appropriate personnel
  • Coordinate and implement annual workstation and laptop updates and replacements.
  • Research, plan, and implement annual projects.
  • Research project related to vendors and pricing necessary for annual budgetary projections.

 

  1. Provide support for all server and networking operations as well as primary help desk support.
    • Maintains service desk tickets at 10 or less.
    • Coordinates all user security activity and ensures that standard procedures are followed when setting up, changing, or disabling user security.
    • Responds to users' questions via telephone and email concerning network-based hardware, software, and business applications.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems and common applications.
    •  Works in conjunction with both Business Applications and Network Services Groups.
    • Create and deploy standardized computer images for desktops and laptops installations.

 

  1. Maintain infrastructure documentation and maintenance records and schedules.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure at all locations. o Install and test all updates in a test environment.
    • Maintain backup copies of network switch configurations.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in computer science or business-related field or equivalent experience.

3 to 5 years of network infrastructure experience, (LAN, WAN, MPLS, VOIP), Cisco, HP hardware. Highly desired with the following certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CCNA, CCNP.

Excellent working knowledge of Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, VMWare, Office 365. TeamViewer, Cisco Duo, SentinelOne, MFA.

 

Excellent knowledge of Servers and Cisco switches, routers, copper cabling, and fiber cabling. Wireless networking, knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud environment and Microsoft Power applications.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.
