Shipping Coordinator/ Supervisor Trainee

MAIN FUNCTION

· Assists the Shipping Superintendent in coordinating and directing the daily activities in the shipping department.

· Assign loading paperwork directly to shipping personnel.

· Inspect shipping and packaging equipment as needed.

· Ensure that orders are prepared in accordance with specified procedures.

· Responsible for the administrative functions in the shipping department, releasing orders, preparing reports, and contacting carriers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assisting in supervising, training, and developing shipping department personnel to provide quality workmanship, knowledge of the plant quality system, and a strong safety and training program.

· Scheduling and ordering of oil rail cars with transportation department.

· Creation of BOL and packing slips for shipment.

· Update load and order status with carriers and Superintendent.

· Monitor the quality system, ensuring that all loading procedures are current, up to date and are being followed by the employees.

· Assist in scheduling daily loading activities using all resources available.

· Direct packaging, identification, and shipping of product to ensure the material is received in good condition.

· Develop ongoing relationships with customer service and suppliers.

· Arrange the day-to-day record keeping and administrative functions for shipping employees, absenteeism, vacation schedules, work schedules, overtime records and accident reports.

· Arrange shipping department day-to-day scheduling for equipment calibrations, work orders, and maintenance and repair.

· Assist in material management and inventory.

· Assure continued compliance and development of ISO 9001:2000 registration.

· Provide leadership for continued improvement in efficiency and quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience with emphasis in business, logistics, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment preferred.
  • Microsoft D365 experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Effective communicator, both oral and written
