Shipping Supervisor

MAIN FUNCTION

  • Assists the Shipping Superintendent in coordinating and directing the daily activities in the Shipping Department.
  • Assign duties directly to Shipping personnel.
  • Inspect shipping and packaging equipment.
  • Ensure that orders are prepared in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Responsible for the functions in the Shipping Department in the absence of the Shipping Superintendent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, train, and develop shipping department personnel to provide quality workmanship, knowledge of the plant quality system, and a strong safety program.
  • Provide safety training to all shipping employees; actively enforce all plant safety programs and policies.
  • Monitor the quality system ensuring that all loading procedures are current, up to date and are being followed by the employees.
  • Create and maintain schedule of daily loading activities using all resources available.
  • Direct packaging, identification, and shipping of product to ensure the material is received in good condition.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with customer service, carriers, and our customers.
  • Arranges the day-to-day record keeping and administrative functions relating to the Shipping employees (absenteeism, vacation schedules, work schedules, overtime records, and accident reports).
  • Arranges the Shipping Department’s day-to-day record keeping relating to equipment calibrations, equipment, work orders, and equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Coordinate with the production department to maximize production yield while meeting customer needs.
  • Assure continued compliance of ISO 9001 and ISO14001 certifications.
  • Assist in assurance of compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Improve people performance through coaching, education and training to ensure long-term dependability and increase productivity.
  • Provide leadership for continued improvement in efficiencies and quality.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, college degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, ACCESS), Kronos, and D365 database programs.
  • Two years of Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Effective communicator, both oral and written.
